SS24 Behind the Scenes📸 Happy Valley - Goose Bay
Imagine a place so pristine, with clean air and crystal-clear waters. A place surrounded by nature in its most pure and beautiful form. Castine's imagination leads us through this nature-inspired Spring Summer 2024 collection, where we can imagine ourselves in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, a realm we have created in our hearts and minds.
Tia’s constant search for creative ingenuity has been an influence on her young family. As Castine and Archie witness their mother’s evolution while creating each new collection, they are also immersed and find themselves subconsciously taking part and influencing Tia with their own imaginative ideas. Their innocent doodling sneaks its way into the collection, surprising and delighting not just them but the TiA CiBANi audience as well.
Taking inspiration from the works of French artist Daniel Buren's larger-than-life creations, a seeming passage through layers upon layers of bold stripes that transport you to this magical imaginary land. His work became the muse for the season's signature print, Rainbow Rain, a reimagining of sailor stripes that appear weathered and broken.
The beginning of every collection is always exhilarating!
As we begin selecting the color story, sourcing the fabrics and trims and honing in on our inspiration, you never know where the collection will take you. Tia then thoughtfully designs the collection, samples are made and that is when the magic of the designs really come to life. Layered textures of crisp cotton tarp and peached cotton twill create subtle variations in a contrasting palette as color-coded pockets play off one another in classic fishing expedition style. Laundered seersucker, embroidered white work, and classic cotton poplin juxtapose one another in a medley of flower petals patchwork and sailor collar necklines. Breton stripes in crisp jersey are treated with crochet blanket stitch giving the classic sailing tee a new twist. Hand crochet sea creatures further enrich the artisan effects while clever die-cut and screen print graphics make a statement in summer reminiscent memorabilia such as flip-flops, anchors, and birds. Hand-knitted pullovers, vests, and cardigans are hearty and fresh in open weaves and surprising color combinations. Fishnet macrame is cleverly applied in multimedia styles making a statement impression in water wave patterns. Ombre color sequencing in an abundance of tulle layers reflects the surreal sea creatures one might find in the depths of the ocean.
This season marked a unique turn for the campaign photoshoot. Never done before, Tia took on the role of photographer and shot the campaign for the first time ever, capturing the essence of the collection from her own perspective! She photographed children within her community, adding a personal and intimate touch to the shoot.
As the collection was sea-inspired, we decided there was no better place to shoot SS24 than the beach! This location made for an ideal backdrop, perfectly bringing the nautical-themed collection to life. And yet, another magical campaign photoshoot was created for this season's SS24 collection.
As Castine dreams of making her mark on a healthier and happier world, Tia takes inspiration and carries us there through her imagination of, yet another colorful collection filled with hope and dreams. Let us dream along with Castine in her pursuit of making the earth healthier again, happier again, resourceful again, and better again—a place where love is abundant and free.
